we’re not in kansas anymore

Click your Nikes together three times and say, “There’s no place like home” and you’ll be there.

I’ve been a homebody since I gave birth to my beautilly (that’s beautiful and silly, if you didn’t catch that) baby girl Olivia, and it was and still is quite an adjustment for me physically, mentally and everything in between. At first it’s fun staying home, no work, chilling with no makeup on then BAM! Suddenly it’s yikes, I’m home with no work, chilling with only Elmo’s songs. Of course there’s many upsides such as spending every sleeping and waking minute with my daughter who’s a born comedian with a heart as big as her thighs, and finding myself after getting lost with my inner tin man, lion, and scarecrow through the yellow brick road of motherhood. But I know my journey doesn’t end here. It’s been fifteen months as a stay-at-home mama and I think it’s safe to say I need change!

As I walk, run, skip-to-my-lou, trip and fall on my way to change, I’m always reminded to get back up, persevere through what comes our way because she’s got me and I got her. Home is not always a roof over your head but a feeling of security and love. I hope to find a piece of home with the people I meet and the places I visit. But with my daughter and her grin by my side, there is no place like her and that’s all a mother truly needs.

So wherever you are in life click your heels together three times, but chances are you’re already there.
